2016 CPL AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITY IN THE SCHOOLS ACTIVITY IN THE SCHOOLS
At the college/university level, the CPL recognizes Cynthia White (University of Arizona) for organizing a large-scale K-12 “bridge” outreach in conjunction with the joint Classics Department and University of Arizona Art Museum exhibit entitled “Rome: The Legacy of an Eternal City” (September 2015 – January 2016). The museum exhibit attracted over 2,000 K-12 viewers from the Tuscon-Phoenix communities, who came at the invitation of the Classics department for a day of activities. In addition, a workshop for K-12 teachers offered also professional development credit and / or certificate. Cynthia’s initiative of inviting K-12 students and teachers for a day of Classics related activities at the University of Arizona is an outstanding example of bridging the university and the K-12 connections.
